Brief Description

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will hold a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for making additions to the Select List for the grade of Assistant Section Officer (ASO)/Assistant. This examination is only open to eligible central government civilian employees serving in specific cadres like the Central Secretariat Service, Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service, and others. The selection is based on a Computer Based Examination and an assessment of service records.

Service & Age Requirement

Selection Process & Syllabus

Selection Method

Written Exam Syllabus

  • Paper-I (200 Marks, 2 Hours): General Awareness (History, Geography, Economic scene, Scientific research) and Constitution of India & Machinery of Government, Practice and Procedures in Parliament.
  • Paper-II (200 Marks, 3 Hours): Procedure and Practice in the respective Service/Cadre of the candidate. This paper is specific to the candidate's current department and service rules.

  2. Candidates must complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website.
  3. The application requires a live photograph captured via webcam or mobile.
  4. After filling the online application, take a printout and get it verified and forwarded by your Head of Department/Office.
  5. The verified hard copy must reach the concerned Regional Director of SSC by the specified last date.
